Chat commands
Commands you can type in the Crossfeed chat composer.
Type / in the chat composer to see the command list. Commands that act on a user run on that user's platform. Commands that change stream info run on both platforms.
| Command | Platforms | Action |
|---|---|---|
/timeout user [10m] [reason] | Twitch, stream.place | Time out a user. The default is 10 minutes. |
/ban user [reason] | Twitch, stream.place | Ban a user |
/unban user | Twitch, stream.place | Lift a ban |
/title text | Twitch, stream.place | Set the title on both platforms |
/category name | Twitch, stream.place | Set the category on both platforms |
/shoutout user | Twitch | Send a Twitch shoutout |
/me text | Twitch | Send an action message |
/clear | Twitch | Clear Twitch chat |
The @ before a user name is optional. /ban @pixelpaz and /ban pixelpaz do the same thing.
/timeout, /ban, and /clear ask you to confirm before they run.
Aliases
An alias is a second name for a built-in command. For example, the alias /to for /timeout turns /to @pixelpaz 5m into a five-minute timeout.
- Open Settings and select Commands.
- Under Slash command aliases, type the alias, pick the built-in command it runs, and select Add alias.
Select Remove next to an alias to delete it. You can have up to 40 aliases.
Custom commands
A custom command sends text you write in advance. Crossfeed sends it to the platforms the composer has turned on.
- Open Settings and select Commands.
- Under Custom slash commands, enter the command name and its text.
- Select Add command.
Each line of the text goes out as its own message. A line that starts with / runs that built-in command or alias instead. Write {1}, {2}, and so on for single words typed after the command, or {args} for everything after it. A placeholder with no matching word stays empty.
For example, a command /so with the text below thanks a streamer in chat and sends a Twitch shoutout:
Go follow @{1}, they make great streams!
/shoutout {1}Typing /so tidepool then sends "Go follow @tidepool, they make great streams!" and runs /shoutout tidepool.
Custom commands and aliases appear in the composer's command list when you type /. A custom command doesn't run while you're replying to a message, and one custom command can't run another. You can have up to 40 custom commands with up to 500 characters of text each.
Command names
Alias and custom command names start with a letter and use up to 24 lowercase letters, digits, dashes, or underscores. A name can't match a built-in command, an alias, or another custom command.
Durations
A timeout duration is a number followed by a unit:
sfor secondsmfor minuteshfor hoursdfor days
A number with no unit counts as seconds. For example, /timeout pixelpaz 90 times out for 90 seconds, and /timeout pixelpaz 2h spam times out for two hours with the reason "spam".
