Go live
Use the go-live checklist to check your setup, then start the stream on stream.place and post it to Bluesky.
The go-live checklist reads your setup before a stream starts. Press G or select the Go live plate in the deck to open it.
Start the stream
- Select Start Streaming in OBS.
- Press G in Crossfeed.
- Check the title at the top of the dialog and change it if needed. It's the same title as in the Stream info module.
- Wait for the checks to turn ready. Fix any check marked Needed.
- Choose whether to post the stream to Bluesky.
- Select Go live.
Crossfeed then marks the stream live on stream.place with your title and category, and pushes your stream info to Twitch.
When Twitch is already live and stream.place isn't, the on-air plate reads On air · Twitch only and has a Go live key. Press G or select Go live to start the stream on stream.place.
The checks
| Check | Ready when |
|---|---|
| OBS is streaming | OBS reports an active output. Shows as skipped when OBS isn't connected. |
| stream.place receives video | stream.place received a video segment in the last 10 seconds |
| Restream to Twitch is on | At least one restream target is on. Shows as skipped when Crossfeed couldn't load your targets. |
| Twitch is live | Twitch reports the stream as live |
| Title is set | Every platform has a title. Go live stays off until this is ready. |
| Category is set | Every connected platform has a category |
| Audio is coming through | The program output peaked above -50 dBFS while the checklist was open |
By default, only a missing title blocks Go live. The other checks warn you and leave the decision to you. Checks for a platform you haven't connected don't appear.
Customize the checklist
Select Edit checklist at the top of the list to change it. Crossfeed saves your checklist with your settings, so it syncs to your other browsers and is part of settings exports.
- Show: Clear this to hide a check you don't need.
- Required: Select this to make Go live wait until the check is ready. A skipped check, such as OBS is streaming while OBS isn't connected, never blocks.
- ↑ and ↓: Move a check up or down the list.
Title is set is always shown and always required.
Add your own checks
Type a check into the box below the list, such as Webcam is on or Phone on silent, and select Add. Your own checks have a box that you tick by hand each time you open the checklist. You can add up to 12.
Select × next to one of your own checks to remove it. Select Reset to the default checklist to remove all of them and restore the built-in checks.
Post to Bluesky
Turn on Post the stream to Bluesky to publish a post when you go live. Edit the post text in the box below the switch. These placeholders fill in when the post goes out:
| Placeholder | Becomes |
|---|---|
{title} | Your stream title on stream.place |
{link} | Your stream.place link |
{twitch} | Your Twitch link, such as https://twitch.tv/cozy_kitchen |
{streamplace} | Your stream.place link, such as https://stream.place/cozykitchen.bsky.social |
For example, I'm live! {title} {link} becomes I'm live! Sunday baking https://stream.place/cozykitchen.bsky.social. {twitch} becomes empty when Twitch isn't connected, and the spaces around it close up. When the text doesn't contain your stream.place link, Crossfeed adds it at the end. Every link in the post is clickable on Bluesky.
Crossfeed remembers your choice and the post text for the next stream.
Stream options
The go-live dialog asks where the stream starts. Go live on stream.place creates the stream.place livestream and the Bluesky post. Clear it to start only the restream, for example to go live on Twitch alone. OBS still sends video to stream.place, since stream.place forwards it from there, but the stream isn't announced on stream.place.
Below it, one Restream to checkbox per target picks the restream targets to turn on. Go live stays off until stream.place or at least one target is checked. Hold restreams until you go live explains how Crossfeed keeps the targets off until then.
These checkboxes start from the Go live section of Settings, and a change in the dialog applies to that stream only. When only Twitch is live, the Go live key stays available, so you can start stream.place later.
End the stream when OBS stops streaming ends the stream.place livestream as soon as OBS stops sending, without asking. Crossfeed remembers your choices for the next stream.
Raid or teleport
Send your viewers to another streamer before you end the stream. Select Raid on the on-air plate, or run Raid or teleport from the command palette.
The dialog has one list per connected platform. Pick a channel in each list, or leave a platform out:
- Twitch: live channels you follow come first, then channels in your Twitch category. Type in the search box to find any live channel.
- stream.place: everyone live on stream.place. People you follow on Bluesky and streamers in your category come first. Type to filter the list.
Select Raid, Teleport, or Raid and teleport, then confirm. Twitch counts down for 90 seconds before the raid, and the stream.place teleport is set to fire at the same moment. When the teleport fires, stream.place ends your livestream. Select Cancel raid in the dialog to stop both before the countdown runs out.
Raids need a live Twitch stream and teleports need a live stream.place livestream. When Crossfeed asks you to reconnect Twitch or sign in again, your account is missing the permissions for raids or teleports.
End the stream
Select End on the on-air plate to end the stream on every platform at once. Crossfeed asks you to confirm first, then:
- stops streaming in OBS, when OBS is connected to Crossfeed
- marks the stream.place livestream as ended
- turns your restream targets off, so Twitch ends too
Your targets stay off afterwards, on stream.place and in Crossfeed. The next Go live turns them on again from your defaults in Settings. When one of the steps fails, Crossfeed still runs the others and tells you which one to check.
Twitch shows a disconnected screen for a short while after the restream stops, because stream.place closes the connection to Twitch without signaling the end of the stream.
Recap
When the stream ends, Crossfeed shows a recap with peak and average viewers, new follows, messages, and the most active chatters. The recap is saved to History in the Stats module.
