Quick start

Connect your accounts and OBS, then start your first stream with Crossfeed.

This guide takes you from a new account to your first stream. It takes about ten minutes.

Before you start

You need:

  • a spot in the Crossfeed private beta
  • an AT Protocol account, which is also your stream.place account, if you stream to stream.place
  • a Twitch account, if you stream to Twitch
  • OBS Studio 28 or later, which includes OBS WebSocket

You can connect only Twitch or only stream.place. Modules for a platform you haven't connected stay empty.

Open app.crossfeed.live and select Sign in to check access. Sign in with your AT Protocol account or with your email:

  • AT Protocol account: Enter your handle and select Sign in and join. You enter your password on your own account's server.
  • Email: Select Sign in with your email instead, enter your address, and select Mail me a link. The link in the mail works once, for 15 minutes, and signs you in.

Without a beta spot, signing in puts you on the waitlist. Account and billing explains your Crossfeed account and beta access.

An email sign-in works with Twitch. stream.place features need an AT Protocol account, which you connect in the next step.

Connect your accounts

  1. Select Settings in the deck.
  2. Under Accounts, select Connect Twitch. Twitch asks you to approve the permissions Crossfeed needs. The permissions reference lists each one.
  3. Enter your handle (e.g. you.bsky.social) under AT Protocol and stream.place and select Connect. Your account's server asks you to approve access.
  4. If you signed in with your email, the AT Protocol card shows Link @ followed by your handle. Select it. Crossfeed signs you in on crossfeed.live and adds the AT Protocol account to your Crossfeed account, so the chat bot can post on stream.place.

Crossfeed keeps your sign-ins in this browser only. Each browser or device connects on its own. Your settings and layouts sync to every browser you sign in to.

Connect OBS

Turn on the WebSocket server in OBS, then enter its address and password in Crossfeed in the OBS section of Settings. The OBS guide walks through each step.

Set up restreaming

To reach Twitch through stream.place, add Twitch as a restream target on stream.place. Crossfeed shows the target in the Health module and can turn it on or off. See Restream to Twitch.

Go live

  1. Fill in the title and category in the Stream info module, then select Push to both.
  2. Select Start Streaming in OBS.
  3. Press G in Crossfeed to open the go-live checklist.
  4. When every check is ready, select Go live.

The go-live guide explains each check.
